"They were willing to do anything" - Juan Soto, Aaron Judge & other Yankees stars reveal 'most extreme' thing their families did to help their careers
The New York Yankees have enjoyed a true bounceback season after a disappointing 2023 campaign. The additions of stars such as Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo has helped the team climb its way to the top of the AL East and also emerge as a true contender for the World Series.
Despite all this, the team has not let its success get to its head. During the Players Weekend, many of the New York Yankees top stars shared an insight into their families and the most "extreme thing" they did for them as they were coming up as baseball players.
"Our guys share how their families supported them early in their baseball career #PlayersWeekend x #LittleLeagueClassic" - @Yankees
In a video shared by the Bronx Bombers' account of X, some of the team's biggest stars, including Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Volpe, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto dove into some of the things their family did for them.
"I was a kid, I don't know what they were doing but I know they were willing to do anything to help me out," Juan Soto said of his family and their sacrifices.
Many players who were questioned thanked their parents for the extensive travel that was required to get them to this stage of their career. Reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole explained that his family drove across several different states when he was coming up.
Pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr. said of his family's impact on his life:
"I would say, leave everything in Cuba come to Miami but give me not only a career, but a lifestyle."
It's safe to say that the sacrifices made by the families of the New York Yankees players paid off significantly. For all these players to reach this stage, obviously talent was required, but they could never have made it without those who supported them along the way.
New York Yankees could honor their families with a World Series title this season
It's likely that many of these star players have already used their substantial wealth to show their appreciation for their family members, however, if they are able to secure a title, it would be something that money cannot buy.
Entering Sunday's action, the Yankees sit atop the AL East with a 73-51 record and look primed to make a deep postseason run. Thanks to the heroics of stars such as Aaron Judge, New York could push for its first title since 2009. If the team is able to achieve this, it would further cement the sacrifices that the player's parents and families made for them.
