"Time for the FCC to do its f**king job";"Psychotic" - Fans furious over 'anti-trans' ads running on TV during World Series
The action on the field between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series is not the only thing that has got fans talking. The commercials shown on TV by FOX Sports rubbed many fans the wrong way.
Anti-trans ads attacked US presidential nominee Kamala Harris' campaign and support for transgenders. According to USA Today, groups supporting Republican nominee Donald Trump financed these ads.
"Kamala supports tax-payer funded sex changes for prisoners," one of the ads said. "Kamala is for they/them. President Trump is for you."
Another ad said:
"Harris wanted to 'do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison.'"
Fans on social media felt such ads had no place during the World Series.
One fan wanted the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which regulates interstate and international communications through cable, radio, television, satellite and wire, to take action.
"I feel like if an ad is so bad it gets to the point it needs a warning label. It’s time for the FCC to step in and actually do it’s f***ing job," one fan commented.
"the anti-trans ads during the World Series are psychotic," another user wrote.
There was more negative feedback about the ads, with a couple of fans pointing the finger at the GOP, which often uses the phrase "stick to sports."
"They gave up on the whole no politics in sports thing?" one fan asked.
"GOP to Trans people and their friends and family: Drop Dead," one fan added.
"This world is f**king bleak," another fan posted.
Fox Sports placed disclaimer before controversial anti-trans ads during World Series
While these anti-trans ads gained public attention, Fox Sports placed a disclaimer to make sure it was in the clear.
"Federal law requires the FOX Broadcasting Network and all broadcast stations to accept and broadcast political advertisements for and sponsored by legally qualified federal candidates for public office."
The US presidential election between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is set to take place on Nov. 5.
