"To her favorite catcher" - Will Smith's wife Cara captures core memory of daughter's ceremonial first pitch to Dodgers star dad

Will Smith's wife, Cara, and his daughter, Char, were present at Dodger Stadium for the Los Angeles Dodgers' game against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. Char was scheduled to throw the ceremonial first pitch before the game.

In the video shared by Cara on social media, Char threw a pitch to his father, who was behind the plate. The pitch dropped well short and culminated with the family of three hugging each other to savor the moment.

"char throwing out the first pitch to her favorite catcher🥹💙," she wrote in the caption.

Will Smith and Cara Martinelli exchanged their vows in Dec. 2020 and welcomed their daughter, Char, in October 2022.

It's not the first time that Char has appeared in front of the media. Following a game against the St. Louis Cardinals, for post-game interaction, instead of catcher Will Smith, Char was seen sitting in front of the press.

Will Smith is potentially a Dodger for life after the catcher signed a 10-year, $140 million contract. Living in LA, you are attracted to new opportunities, and they came their way after Netflix reached out to the Dodgers and the Smiths. The couple agreed for it.

On Wednesday night, Smith presented a comedy show at The Orpheum Theatre. It's part of Netflix's ongoing festival, "Netflix is a joke."

Will Smith also took this opportunity to host a live auction, the proceeds of which will go to their foundation, Catching Hope. In the auction, unsurprisingly, Shohei Ohtani's signed jersey was the most bidded item followed by another Dodgers' signed jersey. A total of $35,000 were collected from the auction, all of which went to Catching Hope Foundation.

Many Dodgers teammates were also present at the event which was kickstarted by Cedric the Entertainer delivering a monologue.

Clayton Kershaw, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Tyler Glasnow, Gavin Lux and Jason Heyward were among those reported to be present. Front office executive Andrew Friedman, general manager Brandon Gomes and manager Dave Roberts were also in attendance.

The Catching Hope Foundation, founded in 2021, works towards skilling the low income youths instilling qualities like leadership, self-advocacy and self-sufficiency.
