“Tommy Edman right now has been a cheat code” - MLB insider weighs in on Dodgers' World Series qualification
On Monday, MLB insider AJ Ramos talked about Tommy Edman's brilliant performances in the playoffs for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers secured their ticket to the World Series after they beat the New York Mets 10-5 on Sunday, therefore winning the NLCS 4-2.
Despite having the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernandez, it was unlikely hero Edman that ended up taking home the NLCS MVP award. The acquisition of the 29-year-old prior to the trade deadline mid-season now looks to be an inspired decision by the organization.
Speaking to MLB Network Radio on October 21, Ramos talked about how Edman had been "a cheat code" for his team in the postseason so far.
"He (Tommy Edman) was putting on man, from bunting, from hitting it up the middle, just putting the ball in play. Tommy Edman's one of those guys that, it seems that now he's getting into his stride." Ramos said [0:01]
"It seems like he's got his timing down, it seems like he's seeing the ball well, he's downloading what the pitcher's trying to do, you can see it in his takes. The chess match between pitcher and hitter has been fun to watch, and Tommy Edman right now has been a cheat code," Ramos added. [0:46]
Tommy Edman hits homer, bats in four as Dodgers seal World Series qualification
The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Mets 10-5 in Game Six of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. Despite the Mets initially taking the lead in the top of the first, the hosts immediately turned the game around in the bottom of the first. They went on to overwhelm the visitors with four more runs in the bottom of the third.
In a clash involving numerous superstars on both sides, Tommy Edman ended up stealing the show. The 29-year-old had arguably the biggest game of his career so far, batting in four on the night, scoring two with an RBI double in the bottom of the first and a two-run homer in the bottom of the third.
With victory in the NLCS, the Dodgers set up a mouthwatering clash with AL winners, the New York Yankees in the World Series. Fans will be hoping their side can continue on the trajectory they have been on in the playoffs so far. With the pitchers looking good and pretty much the entire offense contributing to victories, they are in good position to bring the Commissioner's Trophy back to LA.
