Tommy Edman wins NLCS MVP as Dodgers triumph over Mets to punch World Series ticket

Tommy Edman turned out to be the best hitter for the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup, which consists of All-Stars such as Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, in the NLCS showdown against the New York Mets.

Edman, who went 2-for-5 on Sunday, hit a two-run home run in the NLCS Game 6, which helped the franchise take down the Mets 10-5 and book their spot in the World Series, where the Dodgers will face the New York Yankees.

For his contributions, Tommy Edman was crowned the NLCS MVP. The slugger batted .407 with 11 hits, a home run, 11 RBIs and five runs scored in the championship series. Moreover, he tied former Dodger Corey Seager's RBI record in a playoff series.

A lot of credit should go to the Dodgers front office which acquired Tommy Edman at the 2024 MLB trade deadline. Since coming to the Dodgers, he has battted .237 with 33 hits, six homers, 20 RBIs and 20 runs scored in 37 games.

Tommy Edman reflects back on his time with the Dodgers

After the NLCS Game 6 win, Tommy Edman joined the Fox Sports crew, including Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and David Ortiz.

"I was injured when I first got here and didn’t really know what the season would bring, but I know they brought me in to fill a variety of roles," Edman said. "Over the past week or so, since Biggie got hurt, it’s been all shortstop for me. But it’s been fun being part of such a great team—we have so many good players."

Tommy Edman is no stranger to playing in NLCS. He previously did it with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2019. However, he went hitless in 14 at-bats against the Washington Nationals who would go on to win the World Series.

Talking about his previous NLCS experience, Edman said:

"We made it to the NLCS my rookie year, and I think playing in that environment prepared me for all the future moments we've had. Being able to keep a steady heartbeat is key, and the other thing about this team is we have so many guys with experience who play the game really cool, calm, and collected. That kind of rubs off on everybody else."

Tommy Edman will like to continue his momentum going into the World Series.
