Travis Kelce hits out at MLB fans after backlash over alleged Yankees allegiance

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been enjoying the MLB postseason during his time away from the NFL field. However, the three-time Super Bowl winner caught the attention of baseball fans after his post for the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday.

Kelce shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, in support of the Guardians during their thrilling ALCS Game 3 against the New York Yankees.

"Playoff baseball baby!!! @CleGuardians have the city absolutely ROCKIN TONIGHT!! What a game!"

However, he received flak from fans for allegedly rooting for the Yankees back in 2010, pointing out his supposed tweet for the Bronx Bombers.

Several fans highlighted the same post from Kelce, alleging he was switching sides by rooting for the Guardians. However, the NFL star hit back against the allegations, claiming he was always a Cleveland fan.

"I’ve been a cleveland sports fan my entire life… Make it back to countless amount of games over the years both Guards and Cavs just to enjoy these memories with my friends and family, WIN OR LOSE!!… and I don’t wear Cleveland gear one time 😂 and all of a sudden I’m not a real fan?! Ask anybody that was in or around that suite on game 1 who I was cheering for, they’ll let you know I was there for the @CleGuardians."

While fans debate Travis Kelce's MLB allegiance, the four-time First-team All-Pro went to Cleveland Heights High School where he played baseball before representing the Cleveland Heights Football team for three years.

Travis Kelce reflects on attending NLCS Game 1

The Chiefs star rocked up to the NLCS Game 1 at Yankee Stadium earlier this week, seemingly on a date with his popstar girlfriend Taylor Swift. Travis Kelce enjoyed the game even though the Guardians lost 5-2 in the championship series opener.

“Even though the Guards couldn’t pull it off, it was still an exciting game,” Kelce said(via NYPost). “It was cool to see Yankee Stadium because I always wanted to see that thing in person, in a playoff game, in a hostile environment, and it didn’t disappoint, man.”

Kelce has much to cheer about after Thursday's Game 3 as the Guardians came from behind following David Fry's walk-off home run to cut the Yankees lead to 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.
