"Very proud of my Golden Glove guy" - Bobby Witt Jr.'s fiancee beams over Royals shortstop's fielding accomplishment

Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. concluded his impressive 2024 MLB season by adding another accolade to his resume earlier this month. The All-Star shortstop was the first-time winner of the American League Gold Glove Award.

Witt and his fiancee, Maggie Black, attended the event organized by MLB to honor the Gold Glove winners at New York's Plaza Hotel over the weekend. Maggie shared the picture from the event with a special message for the Royals shortstop in her Instagram story.

"Very proud of my Golden Glove guy," she wrote.

The duo shared the frame with Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith. The St. Louis Cardinals icon won the award for 13 consecutive years.

Maggie and Bobby reportedly met during their time at Colleyville Heritage High School in Texas. They engaged before Christmas last year and are reportedly set to be married in December.

Bobby Witt Jr. could add another accolade in the offseason

Bobby Witt joined the 30-30 club last season and was rewarded with a franchise record 11-year, $288.7 million extension leading up to the 2024 season in February. The star infielder delivered on the faith shown by the team by making the 30-30 for a second consecutive season.

His prolific hitting, leading the major leagues in average and hits, earned him a first All-Star call-up this year. Apart from the Gold Glove, The Royals shortstop is one of the finalists for the Silver Slugger Award. His Royals teammate and catcher, Salvador Perez, is also a finalist for the award.

While Perez has already won the award four times, a franchise record, it will be Witt's first Silver Slugger award and a first by a Royals shortstop. He would also become only the 13th shortstop to win the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards in the same season. The award winners will be announced on Tuesday.
