Vladimir Guerrero Jr. fuels Teoscar Hernandez's Blue Jays reunion rumors with subtle social media move
The latest collaborative workout between Teoscar Hernandez and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has sparked rumors about a potential deal between the Blue Jays and the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby winner.
Hernandez, a free agent, was expected to be re-signed by the Dodgers, but with negotiations reportedly stalled, the Blue Jays could be poised to strike.
On Sunday, Hernandez posted a photo from his workout at Nicole Gabriel Training Center in Tampa, Florida. It's a private training facility where over 150 professionals, including 15+ All-Stars, 10+ World Series Champs, three MVPs, four Gold Gloves and two ROYs, have trained.
The last snap from the series of photos included Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Atlanta Braves pitcher Reynaldo Lopez talking with Teoscar Hernandez.
Vladdy also reposted the same on his Instagram story.
Ross Atkins finds Teoscar Hernandez perfect for a spot on Blue Jays
The potential interest between Teoscar Hernandez and the Toronto Blue Jays is more than just speculation. The Blue Jays front office has made it clear that they need an outfield with an All-Star bat. When GM Ross Atkins was asked about a potential reunion with Hernandez, he said "absolutely."
"Teo is a great teammate, great person, great player," Atkins said at the Winter Meetings in Dallas. "Certainly could be a piece to the solution."
Moreover, ESPN insider David Schoenfield predicts Teoscar Hernández to re-sign with the Blue Jays on a possible three-year, $66 million contract.
However, the Blue Jays can expect the Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox to put up a fight. Both teams missed out on Juan Soto, while Hernandez would be a quick fix playing in the outfield, coming off an incredible year.
History suggests that the Dodgers have the advantage over the Blue Jays when it comes to acquiring star players. Shohei Ohtani is a prime example of that, but Hernandez could buck the trend.
