WATCH: Cleveland Guardians celebrate ALDS victory with champagne-fueled locker room party
After a 7-3 victory in the finale of their five-game series against the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, the Cleveland Guardians advanced to the championship series. With this victory, the Guardians won the ALDS with a 3-2 score over the Tigers.
The clubhouse was overjoyed with their achievement and celebrated it with champagne in their locker room:
Before the Cleveland Guardians players popped the champagne bottles and drenched each other in the locker room, manager Stephen Vogt had a few words for his team:
"I keep being so proud of this group. Back against the wall. We're never out of it. We answer and we shut 'em down. We still got work to do. Let's freakin' go."
The Guardians have had several champagne celebrations, whether for winning the AL Central with a 92-69 record and a .571 winning percentage or for the ALDS victory.
With one of the lowest payrolls, the Guardians are now set to face the New York Yankees, who have the second highest payroll in major league baseball. The two teams will meet in the American League Championship Series opener on Monday at Yankee Stadium.
