WATCH: Freddie Freeman's son Charlie crushes hitting session with dad at Yankee Stadium ahead of Dodgers vs. Yankees game

Ahead of the hotly-anticipted series between Freddie Freeman's Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, the star first baseman was spotted doing a peculiar routine. During the Dodgers' practice time, Freeman was recorded sharing a moment with his son Charlie at Yankee Stadium.

It can be recalled that years ago, a video was taken on the Freeman family backyard where a young Charlie was pitching to his dad. This time, however, the roles were reversed as Freddie did the pitching duties, while Charlie batted.

Freddie Freeman is known for bringing his family to games. This time, however, he took it to another level as he trained with his son Charlie ahead of a high-stakes matchup against the Yankees.

The tussle between the MLB behemoths at the Bronx commenced with the Dodgers eking out a slim 2-1 victory over the Yankees. Yoshinobu Yamamoto produced a gem for the Dodgers as he pitched a two-hit, no-run outing with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.

It took until the 11th inning for the scoreboard to tick at Yankee Stadium in the game between the Dodgers and Yankees. Teoscar Hernandez hit a double to center left field that brought both Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman home.

The two-run double pushed the scoreboard to 2-0 in favor of the visiting Dodgers. The Yankees tried to clutch out a victory in the bottom of the 11th courtesy of an Aaron Judge single that drove in Anthony Volpe. However, it would be the final run that the Bombers could muster as Dodgers reliever Yohan Ramirez was steadfast in his closing duty.

The win pushed the LA Dodgers' season record to 40-25, still in cruise control in the National League West as the second-placed Padres are currently eight games behind.

Meanwhile, for the Yankees, they have a 45-20 record, with the equally sensational Baltimore Orioles right on their tail with a 40-22 record.

The Dodgers and Yankees will play the second game of their three-game series Saturday at 7:35 p.m. EDT. The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports. Gavin Stone will take the mound for the Dodgers opposite all-star lefty Nestor Cortes Jr.
