Watch: JP Crawford and Scott Servais get ejected after heated debate over strike 3 call

The Seattle Mariners saw some heated moments during their game against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. The Wednesday night game saw two of the Mariners members ejected.

The Guardians were in the lead ever since the first innings not allowing any run to the opposing team. JP Crawford was struck in the first and third innings by Tanner Bibee.

In the fourth inning, Bibee threw a fastball to Crawford that the home plate umpire, Doug Eddings, called a strike to end the fourth inning. The Seattle shortstop disagreed with the call and angrily slammed his helmet on the ground before confronting Eddings.

The home plate umpire ejected him from the game immediately. Mariners' manager Scott Servais rushed onto the field from the dugout to defend Crawford.

Servais argued with Eddings, and shortly after was ejected as well. Even after being ejected, the Mariners manager continued to argue with the home plate umpire as can be seen in the video of the moment shared on X/Twitter:

The Seattle Mariners' struggles worsened after the ejections as their batters remained scoreless throughout the game. The Mariners' offense went 3 for 29 with no runs, two walks and 14 strikeouts.

The Cleveland Guardians' offense took the lead in the first inning by scoring one run and adding another two in the second. After J.P. Crawford and Scott Servais were ejected, the Guardians scored three runs in the fifth inning.

The team scored one run each in the sixth and seventh innings before concluding the game and setting the final score. Guardians pitcher Tanner Bibee pitched for six innings, allowing three hits and a career-high 12 strikeouts.

“You could feel the (unhappiness) building in the dugout because those are balls,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said (via AP News). “But you have to give Bibee credit. He’s got a really good fastball, his breaking ball is legit and he commands it. He’s really good.”

After winning Tuesday’s game 8-5, the Seattle Mariners lost the second game of their three-game series with the Cleveland Guardians. They will face each other on Thursday at Progressive Field in the final game of their series.
