WATCH: Juan Soto screams in pain as foul ball hits ankle before smashing a two-run homerĀ

Juan Soto and the New York Yankees are looking to win their series against the Kansas City Royals at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. The Bronx Bombers have already emerged as a top postseason contender, but they must win as many games as possible to secure the NL East Division title.

The Yanks were down 1-0 to the Royals as Luis Gil surrendered a home run to Michael Massey during the top of the fourth inning.

With the offense struggling to score, Soto came up to the plate. However, the slugger took a nasty knock while facing Cole Ragans. Soto fouled off a ball but hit it straight to his ankle, and in a few seconds, the Yankees star was seen hobbling and screaming in pain.

Here's a glimpse of Soto's struggling in pain after the hit.

It was a tough moment for Yankees fans to watch since they couldn't risk injuring their top player, especially with the playoffs approaching. Luckily for Soto, it was not too serious as he got back into the game.

But hardly a minute after his return, Juan Soto cranked a two-run home run deep to right field. Soto put the Yankees back in the game and gave them a 2-1 lead over the Royals.

Juan Soto has the 8th-most home runs before turning 26

Juan Soto is all set to break records and is just one home run away from reaching 200 for his career. With his shot on Wednesday, Soto now has the eighth-most home runs (199) before turning 26.

Ahead of Soto are Frank Robinson (200), Albert Pujols (201), Mickey Mantle (207), Mel Ott (211), Alex Rodriguez (216), Jimmie Foxx (222), and Eddie Mathews (222).

Soto still has time to add to his tally as he turns 26 on October 25.

Soto's contribution to the team has created a significant impact. The Yanks are one of the favorites to win the World Series, and this could be Soto's last year in pinstripes.

It's uncertain if the Yankees will retain Soto or offer him a better contract after the season. At present, their goal is to focus on the playoffs and getting closer to the World Series.
