WATCH: Juan Soto shares heartwarming moment with his family after powering Yankees to World Series berth
New York Yankees slugger Juan Soto powered the Bronx Bombers to the World Series for the first time in 15 years after his homerun heroics on Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians.
Soto struck a go-ahead three-run home run in the 10th inning to put the Yankees on the brink of a win and it panned out the same way after closer Luke Weaver closed the bottom tenth to clinch a 5-2 win.
Following the win, the Yankees players celebrate the AL pennant win with their friends and family members. Soto's parents, Juan Soto Sr. and Belkis Pacheco were also at Progressive Field to celebrate the win. Soto's mother embraced him before his father lifted him in joy while sharing a hug.
Juan Soto's parents have been one of his biggest supporters and they were present to cheer the Dominican slugger's pursuit of a second World Series ring. He won his first with the Washington Nationals in 2019. His parents were in attendance when Soto made his MLB debut for the Nationals.
Juan Soto described it as extra special at the time:
“It was really special having my family out there. For me, every time I go to the plate or go to the field, and you know family is out there, I want to give him my 100 percent every time I go out there and try to make it fun.”
Juan Soto chasing World Series glory with Yankees
Although Juan Soto has already tasted success in the postseason with the Nationals, the All-Star slugger wants to go all the way with the Bronx Bombers this season.
Soto said during the AL pennant celebrations while being drenched in champagne:
"Man, we're going all the way!"
Soto's teammate Giancarlo Stanton, who was named the ALCS MVP for his stellar record in the championship series, shared the same sentiment after the game, urging Yankees to resign the Dominican star in free agency:
“We need him to stay. He’s going to stay. We need to bring it home, and then we’ll bring him home also.”
The Yankees will face either the Los Angeles Dodgers or city rivals the New York Mets in the World Series.
