WATCH: Juan Soto showcases multitasking skills, answering fan's question while catching a fly ball
Juan Soto and the New York Yankees faced division rivals Boston Red Sox on Sunday at Fenway Park. During the game, the Yankees superstar was mic’d up for an interview with ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball crew.
Soto was asked who among Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Bryce Harper makes the loudest contact sound with the ball while hitting. While answering the question, a fly ball being hit by Red Sox’s Connor Wong came his way.
Here's the clip of the moment tweeted by MLB:
Juan Soto answered ESPN’s question while running to catch the fly ball saying Harper is the loudest hitter of the three. After catching it, he threw the ball toward the crowd, ending the third inning with an out.
"Definitely Harper," Soto said. "I mean, it's a different sound when you're coming from the minor leagues to the big leagues."
Although Juan Soto didn’t record any hit on three at-bats but recorded a walk. The New York Yankees lost 3-9 against the Boston Red Sox, marking their second loss in the last game of their three-game series.
The Yankees (50-24) lead the AL East with the Red Sox (37-35), ranked third in the division.
Yankees Aaron Judge admires Juan Soto's contributions to the team's success and endorses him for MVP
New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge reckons Juan Soto should be the American League MVP this 2024 season. Judge praised Soto, saying that he would vote for him for the MVP award.
“Juan’s definitely got my vote based on what he’s done all year, coming up big to making great defensive plays,” Judge said (via the New York Post).
“The guy’s always on base for me. He makes my job a lot easier. He and (Anthony) Volpe are the engine of this offense.”
Juan Soto found his way to the Yankees through a trade from the San Diego Padres in Dec. 2023. He inked a one-year, $31 million contract with the Bronx Bombers, avoiding salary arbitration.
In his debut season with the club, the 25-year-old ranks top five in the majors with 18 home runs, 55 RBI and a .315 batting average. The Yankees face the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday to open a three-game series.
