WATCH: Mookie Betts receives hero's welcome at Dick's Sporting Goods as fans go gaga over 3-time World Series champion

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts attended a special meet-and-greet in Glendale, California at the Dick's Sporting Goods Thursday. The eight-time All-Star met fans who were lined up to meet their hero hours before the start of the event.

Betts won his third World Series ring and his second with the Dodgers after they beat the New York Yankees in the World Series last month. Los Angeles won in five games. The 2018 American League MVP was influential in the postseason leading the team in RBIs (16) and OPS (.950).

Quite understandably, fans in Glendale wanted a glimpse of one of the top players in the sport at the moment. Videos posted on X (formerly Twitter) showed Betts interacting with the fans. He received a huge ovation from the crowd, with the first 150 of them getting a special meet-and-greet with the outfielder.

Betts to return to infield for 2025 season, per GM Brandon Gomes

At the annual Dodgers GM meetings, Brandon Gomes stated that Betts will be moving back to the infield for the followning year. He added that there is no confirmation on the position as Betts can be slotted at second base or shortstop but given his versatility, the Dodgers would want to continue his transition.

"It could be second, it could be short. We don't really know yet," Gomes said from the annual GM meetings. "We need to continue to have those conversations. But I think it's much more like, 'Hey, Mookie's looking to get back in the infield' than anything else," Gomes said.

Betts played 72 games as shortstop at the start of the season before he missed almost two months due to a left hand fracture. After he returned, LA decided to use him in his previous right field position to manage his workload. Betts played in right field and at second base for most of 2023.

If the 32-year-old moves inside the diamond, it creates an opportunity for the Dodgers to re-sign Teoscar Hernandez or even pursue a right fielder like Juan Soto.
