Watch: Ronald Acuna Jr. keeps an eye on younger sibling Luisangel Acuna dominating the diamond during Braves vs. Mets clash
Atlanta Braves MVP Ronald Acuna Jr.'s season might have ended prematurely, but the All-Star slugger was part of the Braves dugout during the team's series opener against the New York Mets on Tuesday.
Ronald's presence in the dugout made an interesting viewing, especially when the camera panned to him with his young brother Luisangel's at-bats against the Braves at Truist Park.
The Braves superstar didn't show much emotion while his younger brother repped the opposition's colors. But he did keep a keen eye on his younger brother's plate appearance.
Luisangel Acuna was promoted to the Mets team after Francisco Lindor's injury earlier this month. The younger Acuna smashed his first MLB home run in a 10-1 win against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday last week.
He has made a relatively impressive start to his major league career, racking 12 hits in 32 at-bats along with 12 runs and 3 home runs.
Luisangel reflects on MLB debut and Ronald Acuna Jr.'s advice
Despite being on the opposite teams, Luisangel was excited to see his brother in the Braves dugout ahead of the series opener on Tuesday.
"It’s exciting. It’s a really special moment for me, him and the family," Luisangel said. "He told me he is going to be there no matter what. He wants to see me play."
Luisangel also touched upon the advice he received from his superstar brother, who became the first player to the 40-70 club in MLB history last season.
"He told me to make sure that I always have discipline, which is the most important thing once you are in the big leagues. That was the biggest advice he ever gave me," he added.
During his three at-bats against the Braves with Ronald watching from the dugout, Luisangel registered one hit as the Mets were beaten 5-1 on the night. The win means that the Braves trail the New York team by just one game for the final NL Wild Card spot and could make the turnaround with two games remaining in the series.
