WATCH: Shohei Ohtani's teammates hilariously glue his butt to the bench as a prank during Tampa Bay Rays clash
Shohei Ohtani's teammates decided to have a good time at the expense of their superstar teammate. It's a relatively harmless prank, but they glued the seat of his pants to the bench. While the DH was sitting on the bench during the game, he realized he was totally unable to get up.
The superstar DH wriggled and tried to get up but couldn't without ripping his pants. Naturally, the hitter eventually returned to the game and overcame his teammates' attempts to slow him down.
Ohtani has been incredible this season, and the only real way to slow him down is to keep him on the bench. The Los Angeles Dodgers jokingly tried that, but he still returned to the game and has continued to display excellence.
He's in the middle of a great season, perhaps one that will be met with awards when it's all said and done.
Shohei Ohtani makes history with walk-off grand slam
Shohei Ohtani became the fastest player ever to enter the 40/40 club (home runs and stolen bases). He did it in an incredible fashion, sending a walk-off grand slam into the night.
Ohtani was more concerned with winning the game, which he led the charge for, than setting a record. Via ESPN, he said through an interpreter:
"It's really more about the winning. Obviously, the record is part of the process, but I think the most important thing is about winning the game."
Dave Roberts was more excited about it as he said:
"It's just storybook - 40/40 on the same night. I don't know if that's ever been done, and then he wins it with a grand slam. He's definitely known for the dramatics, and this was something I'll remember for a long time."
Ohtani has since added another home run to up his season total to 41. If he steals 10 more bases and hits nine more home runs, he would be the first to enter the 50/50 club and create even more history on his way to the possible NL MVP. If he wins the latter award, it would be the first for a full-time DH in MLB history.
