Watch: Trevor Bauer takes on the ‘fake Shohei Ohtani’ in hilarious challenge to prove who’s better
Trevor Bauer has not pitched an MLB game since 2021, but while his baseball career remains in the air, his social media career continues to heat up. The former Cy Young winner's battles with King of Juco Eric Sim have been especially entertaining.
In recent weeks, Bauer has been posting videos of him and Eric "fake Shohei Ohtani" Sim, battling one another in different at-bats with Bauer serving as both a pitcher and a hitter.
On Saturday, Bauer released a video showcasing every at-bat between himself and Sim. Throughout the video, Bauer made a number of wardrobe changes, giving fans of his a career retrospective of sorts.
Bauer rocked his Cleveland Guardians, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Cincinnati Reds MLB jerseys. He also wore the uniforms of his international clubs, the Yokohama DeNA BayStars and Diablos Rojos del Mexico.
The pair of baseball social media personalities squared off in the "Shohei Ohtani Challenge," which saw both players take turns as a hitter and as a pitcher. The scoring of the game is simple, with each player getting two points if they win the at-bat. If a player records a strikeout, a hit, or draws a walk, they win the at-bat and claim their points. Pitchers are also awarded one point for a groundout.
Unfortunately for the King of Juco, Eric Sim, Trevor Bauer dominated him en route to a massive 16-5 victory. Even though he lost, Sim put up a solid fight, getting his points from throwing a strikeout, recording a groundout, and recording a base hit.
Trevor Bauer's agent claims that Winter League offers keep rolling in
Even though Trevor Bauer might be having fun competing against Eric Sim in social media challenges, his agent Rachel Luba is putting in the work behind the scenes.
Bauer enjoyed a strong season in Mexico where he not only earned an All-Star selection but also a championship. He was also named the Mexican League Pitcher of the Year.
According to his agent Rachel Luba, Bauer has been receiving a number of contract offers from clubs across the Americas hoping to sign him for their Winter League teams. Some of these teams are reportedly in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Venezuela.
It remains to be seen if he will join one of these teams or hold out for a potential offer to return to the Majors.
