WATCH: Young Pirates fans celebrate Paul Skenes' birthday by sporting star pitcher's signature mustache
Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Paul Skenes has certainly gained popularity, not only because of his skills on the mound but also because of his relationship with gymnast and social media personality Olivia "Livvy" Dunne. Skenes is getting recognized more and more due to his signature vintage mustache.
In the second game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, Pirates fans traveled to Motor City to cheer on their top prospect as he got the nod to start on his birthday. In a humorous twist, several young Pirates fans sported a mock mustache to support Skenes.

Paul Skenes' Pirates won the game 10-2. He pitched six innings of three-hit ball while just giving up two earned runs, a walk, and fanning nine Detroit Tigers batters.
The now-22-year-old has won two of his four starts. He has also maintained a 2.45 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 30 strikeouts. The top pitching prospect in baseball is expected to make his next start in a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the NL West juggernauts.
Paul Skenes and his magic moustache
Many fans have certainly been drawn to Paul Skenes and, of course, his mustache. MLB Pipeline's No. 1 rated pitching prospect has gathered a following of young fans that even sport a pseudo-moustache to show their support.
In a throwback interview with ESPN during the 2023 College World Series, Skenes was humorously asked after the game if his mustache had superpowers. The young hurler just laughed at the question and replied that it didn't but he still liked sporting the look.
The question by the panel came after Skenes' dominant outing against the University of Tennessee Volunteers. In the game, the flamethrower threw 7.2 innings while issuing just five hits and two runs with one walk allowed. The highlight of his performance was the fanning of 12 Vol batters.
Skenes' LSU Tigers won the 2023 College World Series title after annihilating the Florida Gators in Game 3 (18-4).
