"We are grown men playing a kid's game" - Yankees coach Tanner Swanson follows Juan Soto's lead to inspire Little Leaguers with heartfelt message
New York Yankees coach Tanner Swanson and All-Star player Juan Soto shared heartfelt messages for young players ahead of the 2024 Little League World Series. 20 teams from the USA and 10 international squads are set to compete in the latest edition of the youth baseball tournament.
Swanson, known for his role as the Yankees’ catching coach, has made a significant impact in the baseball world. His experience and insights have earned him respect in the game.
Swanson spoke on YES Network, offering advice to young players as they prepare for the 2024 Little League World Series.
“I mean the obvious is finding something you love, not losing the joy for the game because at the end of the day, we are grown men playing a kid's game. Being able to remember the things that you enjoy about this game and trying to attach yourself to that and really hold on to it and really protect it,” said Tanner Swanson.
Swanson’s advice serves as a reminder to these young athletes to hold on to their love for the game and appreciate the fun of playing. He stresses that the essence of the game lies in its enjoyment and passion, not just in professional achievements.
Juan Soto’s advice to young players: Cherish the game and keep believing
In addition to Tanner Swanson’s motivational words, New York Yankees All-Star Juan Soto also shared his heartfelt advice with young players. Soto, who has represented the Dominican Republic in the Little League World Series, emphasized the importance of enjoying the game.
"Just keep playing hard. It doesn't matter whoever tells you that you won't do it. Just keep believing in yourself," said Juan Soto.
"Those little league memories are one of the best memories that you even gonna have in your career and life. I think that's all the memories come up. I mean, when I get together with my friends, that we play together when we were in little league, that's one of the greatest things that ever happened to me, and I enjoy every bit of it," he added
Juan Soto's own journey from Little League to the majors serves as a powerful example of perseverance and passion. Together, Soto and Swanson's messages offer encouragement and a reminder to embrace the fun and dedication that baseball brings.
