"We keep working on it" - Juan Soto reflects on his comeback to Yankees lineup, shares update on his injury condition
After missing out on two games, New York Yankees star Juan Soto was back in the team's line-up as they thrashed KC Royals in game 1 of the three-game series. Soto played at DH on Monday as the Yanks cruised to a 4-2 victory.
Following the game, the three-time All-Star shared his experience of being back to the lineup after missing out on games due to forearm inflammation.
Soto mentioned that he felt quite good being back on the pitch and mentioned that his forearm condition is better.
"Felt pretty good, I know it's DH but got the feeling same," Soto said. "So couple of pitches out there, some bats, overall it felt pretty good. We'll see how I wake up tomorrow and we decide. Whatever the case is, I am doing my treatment.
"Earlier today, I went to the cages, making sure everything went fine. And it did and I told him this past. We will monitor over the next couple of days and then I don't know."
"I mean, I've been doing a lot of treatments. I've been feeling good. I've been seeing a lot of improvement," he added. "Definitely, it's not gonna go away that quick. so we keep working on it. we're gonna keep doing a couple of things for the next week. and see how it goes after that. It's still a thing where you don't feel it when you throw."
Soto has been a crucial part of the Yanks' successful start to the season so far. He has played 65 games for the Yanks and in 242 at-bats, he has a batting average of .318 and an OPS of 1.024, along with 17 HRs and 53 RBIs.
Aaron Boone and the rest of the team hope that the Dominican Republic star can stay healthy as the Yankees look prime to enter the postseason this year.
Aaron Boone is optimistic about Juan Soto avoiding the IL after forearm inflammation
The last couple of days were quite turbulent for the Yankees and their loyal fans. Juan Soto's injury had many wondering about his availability for the rest of the season. Skipper Aaron Boone, when asked about the possibility of the player being put on the IL, sounded quite optimistic about Soto avoiding it.
"I guess it is a possibility, but I don't expect that" - Aaron Boone
Soto was a part of the Yanks' lineup that faced the KC Royals. However, as he mentioned in the post-game interviews, his participation in the next game depends on his condition, as he is being monitored for more information on his injury.
