"We need to legalize bullying"; "I'm gonna cut my eyes & ears off" - Fans react to Todd Frazier's bold claim about Garrett Crochet
Trade rumors are starting to circulate around Chicago White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet. He is somebody the club has teased of letting go of this winter as they continue their rebuild.
One team that has been linked to a Crochet trade has been the Boston Red Sox. They have the prospects to make a deal happen. Former slugger Todd Frazier came up with a wild trade scenario on a recent airing of Foul Territory.
"Trade 4 of your top 5 prospects and throw in Triston Casas for Garrett Crochet" said Frazier.
This is a lot for Boston to lose just to acquire one player. However, the White Sox have been firm in holding onto their stars if they do not get the value they are looking for in return.
Boston fans are not in favor of giving up five players for a starting pitcher who just converted a season ago. They were quick to hop on social media and call this trade scenario out.
"We need to legalize bullying" one fan posted.
"I am gonna cut my eyes and ears off. You're crazy, Todd!" said another.
"I'd call the police" said another.
Fans cannot believe Frazier thinks this is a fair trade. They would erupt furiously if this actually went down this winter.
"I didn't know baseball players could get CTE" said another.
"I wouldn't do that for Pedro" said another.
"Buddy what" said another.
While Crochet is a good, young pitcher, Boston would take quite a hit signing him with Frazier's proposal. They cannot give up that much talent for a young and unproven player.
The Phillies could make a serious push for Garrett Crochet
The Philadelphia Phillies are one team fans will want to keep a close on eye regarding Garrett Crochet. They made a push for him ahead of the trade deadline this past season but did not have any luck.
However, that does not mean they cannot try again in the winter. Like Boston, they have the talent in the farm system that could entice the White Sox. This likely would not include their top prospect, Andrew Painter, who they were unwilling to trade this past season.
With the MLB Winter Meetings right around the corner, the market for Crochet could explode. This could be his final days representing the White Sox.
