"We're not trying to come back from 3-0" - Juan Soto on how Yankees are planning to turn World Series around after Game 4 win

The New York Yankees kept their dream of a first World Series title since 2009 alive after a blowout 11-4 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 on Tuesday. Yankees All-Star Soto reflected on the win and the team's mindset heading into Game 5.

The Yankees offense came to life on Tuesday, with the team scoring more runs on the night than the previous three games combined. The offensive surge helped the Bronx Bombers avoid a series sweep.

Although the Yankees remain one loss away from a World Series exit, Soto said that the team is not thinking about the two-game deficit. He said (1:30):

"This team right here is special. At the end of the day, we are not trying to come back from 3-0; we are trying to win every day. That's the mindset. We are trying to go 1-0 every day."

Juan Soto drove in a run on Tuesday, going 1-4 with two strikeouts in the do-or-die game.

Yankees eye historic comeback after Game 4 win

Although teams have forced Games 6 and 7 on a few instances, no team has ever come back from 3-0 down to win the World Series. The last time any team overturned a 3-0 deficit in the postseason, it involved the Yankees.

The Boston Red Sox were the last team to come back from 3-0 down in the postseason to secure the championship series against the Yankees in 2004. The Red Sox famously won the World Series that year.

If the Yankees are to add a first World Series title since 2009, they will need a historic comeback, something Jazz Chisholm Jr. is not ruling out after their Game 4 win. He said:

"Last night, we all said: ‘We love making history.' So that’s what we’re trying to do right now. Who doesn’t want to make history? I know I love making history. I love writing my name in the history books and being a part of it. So let’s do it.”

The Yankees will send reigning AL Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole to the mound for Game 5 on Wednesday in hopes of forcing a Game 6.
