"Wearing a Mets hat to Yankees-Dodgers World Series, my GOAT" - Fans amused by Hollywood star Jeremy Allen White's Game 5 attendance
Popular American actor Jeremy Allen White was spotted at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, as the 33-year-old enjoyed Game 5 of the World Series. Having starred in a number of movies and shows, White is best known for his work in wrestling flick "The Iron Claw," and TV shows "The Bear" and "Shameless."
Despite the New York Mets having been eliminated in the NLCS by the Los Angeles Dodgers, White didn't shy away from showing where his allegiances lie. He was featured in a post by MLB's page on X, sporting a Mets hat at the ballpark.
Amused by White's gesture, several fans took to X to share their reactions.
"wearing a mets hat to the yanks-dodgers world series MY GOAT FR."
"Rocking the Mets cap like a true G!"
"Nice Mets hat King," a fan posted.
"Mets hat!!!! Yes chef!" another fan shared.
"IN THE METS HAT BANGGGG," another fan wrote.
Though the Mets eventually came up short, Jeremy Allen White and the rest of the fans can take plenty of positives from the 2024 season. Despite starting slowly, the Mets made a huge improvement to ultimately qualify for the playoffs on the final day of the regular season.
Then, they eliminated the Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies in the Wild Card round and the NLDS, respectively, recording their deepest playoff run since they got to the World Series back in 2015.
Dodgers win eighth World Series title with incredible comeback victory in Game 5
The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees, 7-6, on Wednesday night in Game 5 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium. With the victory, the Dodgers won the series and secured the title for the eighth time in their history.
After the Yankees registered a huge victory in Game 4 to stay alive in the series, they raced to a 5-0 lead by the end of three innings in the fifth game. It looked like things would not be as straightforward as the Dodgers would have hoped for after initially winning the first three games.
However, a stunning five-run fifth inning brought the Blues back to level terms. The Yankees did retake the lead in the following inning, but a massive two-run inning in the eighth left the hosts in a hole with next to no time to pull themselves out.
Ultimately, the Dodgers held on to their one-run advantage to cue huge celebrations in the visiting dugout as Walker Buehler K'd Alex Verdugo for the title-clinching out.
