When former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones contemplated his rocky past and wrecked marriages
In a write-up for The Players' Tribune in 2017, former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones opened up about his rocky past and wrecked marriages.
While playing in the minor leagues, Jones married his first wife, Karin Fulford, in 1992. The pair got divorced in 2000 after Jones had an extramarital affair with a Hooters waitress, which led to a child out of wedlock.
He married his second wife, Sharon Logonov, in March 2000. Jones retired from the MLB in 2012, the same year he divorced his second wife, with whom he shares three sons.
In June 2015, the former third baseman tied the knot for the third time with former Playboy model Taylor Higgins in the Bahamas. Taylor and Jones share two sons, Curtis and Cooper.
Looking back at his failed marriages through a powerful letter to his younger self, Jones wrote:
"By the time you feel like you’re finally ready to get married, and to be the type of husband that a spouse deserves, you’ll have already ruined one marriage, helped to ruin a second, have four kids, and be two divorces in.
"You’re going to regret so much about those times for the rest of your life — hurting the people you love, losing friends because you were thinking only of yourself. And to see the disappointment in the eyes of the people who you love the most is going to be rough.
He added:
"When you talk to Mom and Dad about the infidelities and the mistakes and the lies stacked on top of lies and just … all of it, that will be the toughest conversation that you’ll ever have."
Chipper Jones works as hitting consultant for Atlanta Braves
After his MLB retirement in 2012, the Atlanta Braves retired Jones' jersey number (10) and inducted him into the club's Hall of Fame on June 28, 2013.
Six years later, Jones was enshrined into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 29, 2018. Next, he worked as a color analyst for ESPN in 2020. In 2021, Chipper Jones made his long-awaited comeback to his beloved Braves as an assistant hitting consultant.
