When was the last time each 2024 postseason team tasted a World Series Victory? Ft. Dodgers, Yankees Phillies

The 2024 postseason got underway on Tuesday after the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves sealed their playoff spots following the doubleheader on Monday. Eight of the 12 teams that qualified for the postseason started their journey with the wild card games on Tuesday.

While all 12 teams will be eyeing the ultimate glory of clinching the World Series, some boast superior pedigree when it comes to October baseball. We dive into each 2024 postseason team's World Series success.

Los Angeles Dodgers

One of the strongest contenders for the World Series this season, the Dodgers lifted the Commissioner's trophy in 2020 during the COVID-19-hit season.

New York Yankees

The most successful team in MLB history is going through a World Series drought. The 27-time winners last won the title in 2009 under Derek Jeter's leadership.

Phildadelphia Phillies

Although the Phillies last claimed the World Series in 2008, they have been in contention for the past few seasons. They are, like the Dodgers, one of the strongest contenders for the World Series title this year.

Houston Astros

The Houston Astros are the most recent World Series winners in the postseason, as reigning champios Texas Rangers failed to qualify. The Astros claimed the title in 2022.

Atlanta Braves

It took them until the last game of the regular season to qualify for the playoffs, and the 2021 World Series winners did it without Ronald Acuna Jr. in the mix.

Kansas City Royals

Driven by an American League MVP contender, Bobby Witt Jr., the Royals are back in the postseason and will hope to replicate theirs memorable 2015 World Series triumph.

New York Mets

It has been a rollercoaster ride for the Mets this season, as the team recovered from an underwhelming start to the season to squeeze themselves into the Wild Card series. Their last World Series title was almost four decades ago, in 1986.

Cleveland Guardians

The Guardians are the team with the longest World Series title drought in this year's postseason. Cleveland last won the title 76 years ago, in 1948.

Detroit Tigers

The Tigers ended the longest postseason drought by qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2014. They have been one of the surprise entrants heading the Wild Card games. The Tigers tasted World Series success in 1984.

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles were involved in a tense battle for the AL East pennant with the New York Yankees. Although they came up short in the race and had to contend with a Wild Card spot, the 1982 World Series winners could go all the way with rookie sensation Jackson Holliday in the mix

Milwaukee Brewers & San Diego Padres

The only two teams in this year's postseason to still get over the line in their pursuit of a World Series title are the Brewers and the Padres.

Although the Brewers and the Padres are the underdogs heading into the postseason, teams will take them lightly at their peril, with both searching for their first World Series title.
