Which Yankees players have 200+ strikeouts in a season? MLB Immaculate Grid Answers September 22
MLB Immaculate Grid released its 173rd puzzle on Friday, Sept. 22. One of the nine squares required fans to name a Yankees pitcher who has recorded more than 200 strikeouts in a single season in the league.
There are only 16 Yankees players who have achieved this feat. Some of them are as follows:
Gerrit Cole
A top contender for the Cy Young Award in 2023, Cole had a really good 2022 season. He achieved 257 strikeouts, which was also the best by any Yankee.
He recorded more than 200 strikeouts not only in the 2022 season but also in 2021. Cole has gone past this milestone in the current season as well, being the only Yankees pitcher to do so thrice.
Cole had 243 strikeouts in the 2021 season.
Luis Severino
Severino has also managed 200+ strikeouts in a season. As a Yankees, Severino made it to the list when he was 23 in 2017. He went on to achieve the feat again in 2018. Severino had 230 strikeouts in 2017 and 220 strikeouts in 2018.
Michael Pineda
The 34-year-old Dominican pitcher registered his name on the list in 2016 when he recorded 207 strikeouts. Pineda has also represented the Mariners, Twins and Tigers, and is now a free agent.
