"Why didn't you hit one of the 4 I threw you?" - Trevor Bauer calls out Mexican League opponent for asking for a fastball
Even though Trevor Bauer has not pitched in the MLB since 2021, he remains one of the most polarizing figures in the baseball community. The former Cy Young Award winner saw his MLB career come to a screeching halt after sexual assault allegations were made against him. While he was not cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, he has yet to land another gig with a major league club.
As a result, Bauer has been taking his talent across the globe, playing with teams in Japan and Mexico. During his most recent stint with the Diablos Rojos del México in the Mexican League, Bauer proved that he still has plenty of life in his throwing arm. Bauer has never been one to hide his competitiveness or trash-talking skills, and this turned out to be the case in Mexico.
The former Cincinnati Reds ace remained as firey as ever on the mound, even finding himself his fair share of rivals in Mexico, including Jorge Flores of the Guerreros de Oaxaca. The pair barked at one another all season, and Bauer took to social media yet again to call out the infielder, someone he refers to as "midget bitch," in multiple videos. He also poked fun at one of his teammates.
"Pay attention to the number of fastballs I would throw him. One, two and that's three. Leadoff bunt on a 1-2 count for a strikeout? That's a very pest thing to do," Bauer said of Flores' teammate Juniel Querecuto.
Even though Bauer took aim at a teammate, his most publicized beef this season was with Flores. Both Bauer and Flores have not been shy in sharing their feelings for one another all season long, something that the former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher has carried on past the end of the year.
"And that's when a wild midget bitch appeared, and the important thing to notice in this at-bat is how many fastballs I threw him. Now, watch what he does after getting dominated, look at his hand," Bauer added.
"He's telling me to throw him a fastball, but as we just observed, I threw him four fastballs, which makes you wonder. If you want fastballs so bad, why didn't you hit one of the four that I threw you?"
Trevor Bauer and Jorge Flores' rivalry led to a bench-clearing brawl in the postseason
This was not the only time Bauer and Flores went at one another. One of the most notable moments came during Game 7 of the playoff matchup between the Guerreros de Oaxaca and the Diablos Rojos del Mexico. Things kicked off with Flores chirping Bauer after recording a base hit. However, Bauer later got his revenge.
Later, Flores was thrown out at third base, a moment that Bauer could not resist commenting on. The two began yelling at one another, leading to both benches clearing. Ultimately, Bauer had the last laugh as they not only won the game but went on to win the title.
