Will Smith's wife reacts to husband's two-run homer against Padres, joins Dodgers wives for pre-Game 4 celebration
The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back after two consecutive defeats against the San Diego Padres with catcher Will Smith's impressive plate appearance on Wednesday.
The two-time All-Star catcher was having a quiet postseason heading into Wednesday's potential NLDS decider. He smoked a two-run home run off Padres starter Bryan Hoeing to give a substantial 5-0 lead to the visitors in the third inning.
Following his homerun, which helped the Dodgers to an 8-0 shutout win and level the NLDS, his wife Cara Smith shared a story to celebrate the occasion.
Cara was at Petco Park for the fourth game of the division series with the wives and girlfriends of other Dodgers players. She shared another story ahead of the game, with clutcher clips painted in Dodgers blue and surnames of LA stars and their numbers.
Will and Cara met during their time at the University of Louisville. While Smith flourished as a catcher in college for the Cardinals, Cara graduated in education. The duo got engaged in 2019 and married a year later. The couple welcomed a daughter, Charlotte Ann Smith in October 2022.
Apart from being a primary school educator, Cara Smith is a co-founder of the Catching Hope Foundation which helps underprivileged children. The foundation was founded in 2021 by the couple.
Cara and Will Smith are set to welcome a second child this year
Cara and Will Smith will be adding another member to their family as Cara is expecting their second child. They had a baby shower earlier this year and the two-time All-Star's wife updated fans via an Instagram post.
Cara was at the Dodger Stadium in the last week of September as Will Smith and the Dodgers secured the NL West title, the team's 12th in 13 seasons, with a win over the Padres. Their daughter was also at the ballpark, clicking pictures with her parents during the celebrations.
The Dodgers were on the cusp of being eliminated from the postseason by their fierce rivals after consecutive defeats in Game 2 and 3. However, a strong showing by the pitchers has pushed the NLDS to a series-deciding Game 5 at Dodger Stadium on Friday.
