Willy Adames makes feelings known after meeting Buster Posey at Giants' official ceremony
Willy Adames shared the frame with Giants legend and current President of Baseball Operations, Buster Posey, during his introduction ceremony in Oracle Park on Thursday. This is reportedly the largest deal in Giants' history, as they have tied down the starting shortstop to a seven-year, $182 million deal.
Additionaly, the deal contains a no full trade clause and $22 million signing bonus. Adames will be pocketing a salary of $10 million in the first two years and $28 million in the next five. Adames shared his feelings after meeting Buster Posey at the ceremony on Thursday, posting on social media.
Speaking with gratitude at the introduction ceremony and thanking the front office staff for working out the deal, Adames voiced his excitement to play under manager Bob Melvin and hopes to win some championships like Giants legendary catcher Buster Posey.
"Thank you Buster, I am thrilled to be here. I am, so excited for this opportunity, obviously there are no words to describe my feeling right now. And to be here in this beautiful city, I am just so happy to be here, happy to go out there on the field and give my 100% every day.
"And you know play for Bob (Melvin), so excited about that. I just want to thank the ownership and you Buster for making it happen. This is a dream come true for me," said Willy Adames
Buster spoke highly of Adames at the introduction ceremony.
"I heard from multiple people that Willy treats everybody with the utmost respect. He plays with energy, he plays with joy and I know that our fans are going to just be thrilled to watch him compete on a daily basis," said Buster Posey.
Giants' Willy Adames reflects on his winning mentality
Willy Adames is coming off one of the best year's of his MLB career. With the Brewers last season, he produced career high numbers with 32 home runs, 112 RBIs and 21 stolen bases.
The Dominican spoke about his winning mentality, highlighting Buster Posey's achievements with the Giants in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
"Those championships were amazing. I want to be a part of something like that while I'm here. It's going to be up to us to do what they did. I'm excited to help (Buster) create that winning culture here again," said Adames
The Giants nation will be eager to see Adames in action next season as he looks to bring back the glory days for the ballclub.
