"World wants to know what’s in Decoy’s backpack" - MLB fans swoon over Shohei Ohtani's adorable stroll with backpack-wearing pup at Dodger Stadium
Dodgers ace Shohei Ohtani is halfway through the 2024 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He shared a highlight reel on his Instagram account, showcasing short snippets from his first season with the Dodgers.
The Instagram thread also included Shotime's dog, Decoy, wearing a LAD bandana and, in another image, wearing a small brown bag while on a stroll with Ohtani at Dodger Stadium.
Take a look at Shohei Ohtani's Instagram post here, which he captioned as:
"First 81 games down"
Shohei Ohtani celebrated his 2023 AL MVP award with his pet furry friend Decoy, called Dekopin in Japanese, which means a finger-flick on someone's forehead. The dog is of the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje breed and had even received a fake US Visa after Ohtani had made his blockbuster move to the LA Dodgers this past offseason.
Fans immediately took notice of Ohtani and his cute furry partner taking a stroll in Dodger Stadium and showered love for Decoy. While many fans praised the talent and skills possessed by the two-way ace, some others directed cute little comments for Decoy.
"The world wants to know what’s in Decoy’s backpack," one fan commented
"I'm beyond matchless!! Deco-chan is cute and the best," another fan commented
"Adorable deco pins cute backpack. I'm cheering you on from Japan"
Ohtani has been in red-hot form through the first half of the 2024 MLB season with the Dodgers. He has slotted well both as a lead off-hitter in the absence of Mookie Betts and as a designated hitter in between Mookie and Freddie Freeman at the top of the lineup for the majority of the campaign.
Shohei Ohtani has produced scintillating numbers in offense through the first half of 2024
Shohei Ohtani has been leading the offensive charts in the National League so far in the 2024 campaign. He has justified the mammoth $700 million contract that he signed with the LAD this past offseason.
Shotime is second in the MLB in batting average (.322) and OPS (1.045), while he is placed third in the number of home runs (25) and sixth overall in RBIs with 61 so far in his maiden campaign with the Dodgers. His NL-leading 25th home run came against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, his 3rd home run from the leadoff spot for the Dodgers.
