"You could tell he wasn’t right"; "Because he’s been ineffective" - MLB fans react as Walker Buehler heads back to IL after taking a liner to the hip
Walker Buehler's return to Dodger Blue does not seem to be going as expected. Buehler's return was much-anticipated, but the starting pitcher has been struggling since returning to the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Before Buehler could set the pace for the Dodgers, he was placed on a 15-day injured list. In his last start against the Colorado Rockies, Buehler was hit by a comebacker. Manager Dave Roberts stated that Buehler would be placed on the IL due to inflammation in his right hip.
MLB fans couldn't help but react to Walker Buehler's injury. While some fans believed it to be an unfortunate incident, several reacted negatively to Buhler's exit.
Here's a look at some of the fan reactions on X.
"You could tell he wasn’t right, good move," wrote one fan.
"They literally said it’s because he’s been ineffective," another fan wrote.
"He needs a mental reset. They’ve been talking about him his for the last 2 weeks. It was only a matter of time. Reset and try to find his rhythm again. Probably rushed his rehab," one fan added.
Comments poured in as some fans believed his injury was just a cover-up for his struggling performance.
"Liner to the hip = plausible excuse for a blow," one fan wrote.
"Just be honest on the injury report please," one fan chimed in.
"Dude can’t get a break," another fan chipped in.
Dodgers bring in Bobby Miller after Walker Buehler's departure
Bobby Miller has returned to the Dodgers squad after Walker Buehler's exit. Miller was struggling with a shoulder injury and was out for the last two months. On Wednesday, Miller pitched against the Rockies, but it turned out to be another sluggish start for his team.
Miller surrendered five runs in six-plus innings, allowing five earned runs as the Dodgers lost eventually. Roberts felt Miller needed to improve his performance, but it was just his first outing.
“I know he expects a lot of himself, even being his first outing. I thought there were some good throws in there, some things we have to clean up as far as the consistency of the throw," Roberts said.
With Buehler placed on the IL, Miller is expected to be a part of the Dodgers' starting rotation with veteran ace Clayton Kershaw making his first rehab start and nearing a return to the Dodgers lineup.
