”Your courage, sacrifice, and dedication mean everything" – Mike Trout pens heartfelt tribute on Veterans Day
On Nov. 11, Mike Trout would like baseball fans everywhere to turn their attention to the current holiday. It's Veteran's Day in the United States, and Trout took to social media to thank the veterans who have served in the country's military.
Trout posted this heartwarming message on X:
"Honoring the brave men and women who've served our country this Veteran's Day. Your courage, sacrifice, and dedication means everything."
The MLB is one of the few sports that does not play on Veteran's Day. The latest the baseball season can truly go on till is the first few days in November, which means it is always over at least a week before the holiday.
Other sports, such as the NBA, NFL, NHL and professional soccer are playing now and can do tributes. The MLB cannot, so the Los Angeles Angels star has utilized social media to remind fans what the day is all about.
Baseball is a game that many are free to play and has been called America's Pastime. Trout has taken the opportunity to thank those who protected the country's freedoms as many of them allow him and others across the league to play the sport they love for a living.
Mike Trout open for changes in 2025
Mike Trout played less than one-quarter of the MLB season in 2024. Injuries once again derailed what was a promising start to the year for both him and the Los Angeles Angels. When it comes to making changes for 2025, Trout is open to the possibility.
That may mean moving to a corner outfield spot and ceding the center field role he's had for the last 12 seasons. It may also mean some time spent as the DH. He said via MLB:
“I think there’s definitely going to be some conversations in the offseason. It's reality. I know I have a certain amount of years on my deal and I knew when I signed my contract, I’d eventually move to a corner. But is it next year? I don’t know. But we’ll have conversations.”
What lies ahead remains to be seen, but Trout is willing to consider all options as he tries to stay on the field and play well again in 2025.
