Nolan Arenado Landing Spots: 3 ideal destinations for 8x All-Star if dealt by St. Louis Cardinals
Nolan Arenado might be one of the most intriguing names who could be available on the trade market. The St. Louis Cardinals have expressed an interest in getting younger, which opens the door for a number of veterans to potentially be on the move, however, the eight-time All-Star third baseman is by far the top talent who could be on the move.
While a number of teams might be interested in Nolan Arenado's services, the superstar infielder has a full no-trade clause, which means that he will need to approve of any deal before it can be made. According to MLB insider John Denton, Arenado gave the Cardinals a list of six teams that he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause for.
The Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly the teams that Arenado is willing to accept a trade to. While he may be convinced to go elsewhere, these are the six mentioned by MLB insider John Denton. That being said, not all six teams make sense for the superstar third baseman.
Here's a closer look at 3 potential destinations for Nolan Arenado if he were to be traded this offseason
#1 - Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox are a team that is looking to contend as soon as possible. Although the team already has Rafael Devers manning third base, it has not only considered moving him to first base, but Arenado is reportedly open to making the move to first base as well.
Nolan Arenado is looking to win, and with the Boston Red Sox front office aggressively looking to improve, it could be an ideal pairing for both parties. A lineup that features Arenado, Devers and Jarren Duran could make some noise.
#2 - New York Mets
The New York Mets and their owner Steve Cohen are clearly fully committed to winning the World Series as soon as possible. The team handed out the richest contract in MLB history, signing Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million deal. If Nolan Arenado is looking to win, this may be his best opportunity to do so.
If Arenado is open to moving to first base, he could serve as a more than solid replacement for Pete Alonso, who could depart in free agency this offseason. Even though Arenado's best days might be behind him, adding him to a lineup with Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor could be huge for the Mets.
#3 - San Diego Padres
Another top contender in the National League not named the Los Angeles Dodgers are the San Diego Padres. The Friars have some of the most talented players in the league, as well as plenty of young players they could send to St. Louis in exchange for Arenado. The Padres might be the best equipped team to defeat the Dodgers next season and adding Arenado would only help that cause.
