Royals Game PPD - Yost is Yost
The Royals game scheduled for today has been postponed with no make up scheduled as of yet. Yordano Ventura will skip this start, and according to Yost, will work out of the bullpen until his next start scheduled for Tuesday versus Tampa Bay. Yost cited the fact Guthrie has been set for the home opener for some time as the reason for passing over a start by one of the Royals’s most dynamic pitchers. It is a strange move, but it is a Yost move.
I apologize for my redundancy.
While I understand the need to keep Guthrie on track, it seems a huge waste of resources to ensure Bruce Chen is still allowed to start on Saturday. Why not simply alter the order with the end goal to ensure your best pitchers receive the most opportunities to pitch? I have not been a fan of many of the moves Yost has made from a managerial standpoint in the first two games, and it seems he is capable of making questionable decisions even when the Royals don’t play. I went into this season optimistic about Yost, and felt he would not hamper the Royals’s ability anymore than most average coaches in baseball, an opinion I am already going back on. Welcome back baseball season…welcome back
