Cody Bellinger Trade Rumors: Yankees and Rangers keeping close tabs on 2019 NL MVP for possible move before August 1
The MLB trade season is just beyond the horizon and one player that has increasingly popped up is Chicago Cubs slugger Cody Bellinger. He has played well this year, and teams are looking to steal him away from Chicago.
As per clutchpoints.com, two teams have reportedly already sent their scouts to Chicago to get a better look. These teams include the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees, who were both interested in the slugger last season.
While the Yankees have a stellar outfield, they could use some help on the infield. Trading for Bellinger to play first base for the teams makes sense for them, especially with Anthony Rizzo injured.
The Rangers have struggled offensively and could use a boost in the lineup. Bellinger's source of power and versatility would be an instant upgrade for the defending World Series champs.
Are the Cubs looking to trade Cody Bellinger?
At the start of the season, the Chicago Cubs were thought to be a contender in the National League Central. However, things have not gone their way as they sit with their 38-44 record.
Chicago currently sits in last place in the NL Central and has a ton of ground to make up for. They find themselves 10.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers, who lead the way.
The likelihood of a trade happening is getting closer and closer to fruition. Unless Chicago can turn it around quickly, Bellinger might go.
The Yankees and Rangers will likely not be the only ones keying in on the two-time All-Star. He is a versatile slugger who can instantly upgrade a team with his presence.
