Dodgers Trade Rumors: Garrett Crochet could be next promising pitcher on the list, per report
The Los Angeles Dodgers just announced they had placed starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow on the injured list. The hard-throwing righty is dealing with a back issue that will cost him at least 15 days.
While injured, Glasnow is already nearing his career-high of 120 innings pitched during a single season. It would do the organization some good to search for an arm ahead of the MLB trade deadline on July 30.
According to FanSided's Christopher Kline, Chicago White Sox flamethrower Garrett Crochet could fit here. However, he may not be somebody that would stick in the starting role.
Crochet has already thrown 105.1 innings, crushing his previous career high of 54.1 innings pitched during the 2021 season. LA could look at moving him to the bullpen later into the season if a trade was to go down.
Would Garrett Crochet work in Dodgers' bullpen?
If Garrett Crochet were to get traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and move to the bullpen, it would be familiar territory. Crochet was used as a relief pitcher for the White Sox until transitioning to a starter this year.
Since transitioning to becoming a starter, Crochet has not worried too much about his velocity. He can still average 97 mph on his fastball but could ramp it up if he has to throw fewer innings.
He would be a tough at-bat, especially when the rest of LA's rotation gets healthy. Not many MLB hitters are going to want to face somebody like Clayton Kershaw and then Crochet their next at-bat.
This is a move that could significantly make the Blue Crew much more fearsome. However, they have already made an offer and have been turned down and will have to come up with a new offer to get this deal done.
