Phillies Trade Rumors: Cedric Mullins, Jake McCarthy and Jacob Young emerge as possible targets, per report
The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to get stronger with the trade deadline fast approaching. While they currently hold the best record in all of baseball (62-34), they still have some holes they could fill for the second half.
They could use another outfielder to help strengthen their squad and have already started asking around. Per MLB analyst Jim Bowden, Philadelphia has been in talks with a trio of sluggers.
According to Bowden, Philadelphia has been in talks with Jake McCarthy, Jacob Young and Cedric Mullins. All three would help the team, but Mullins is an interesting choice here.
Mullins plays for the AL East-leading Baltimore Orioles. while they are battling the New York Yankees for control of the division, Mullins' bat has declined with players like Colton Cowser and Heston Kjerstad playing above expectations.
Those 3 are not the only outfielders Phillies are interested in
There is no denying that the Phillies need outfield help. Luckily for them, there are some exciting names that are thought to be on the move in the next few weeks.
One name that Philadelphia has been tied to is Chicago White Sox slugger Tommy Pham. He has been one of the few bright spots on the south side of Chicago this season, and would likely not cost a team too much.
Pham could be the right-handed bat the team has been looking for. He has been stellar against left-handed pitching this year and could be a perfect platoon partner for Brandon Marsh.
However, the team has also been tied to another White Sox slugger, Luis Robert Jr. He could cost the team a bunch, but he is arguably the best outfield option available for a reason. His ability to move around the outfield could give Philadelphia plenty of flexibility during the second half.
