Team USA pitcher Adam Wainwright has "never had so much fun" playing baseball as he has in the World Baseball Classic
Adam Wainwright was on the mound for the USA as his team trounced Team Cuba to punch their ticket to the World Baseball Classic final in Miami on March 21st.
Wainwright pitched four innings, striking out one hitter and allowing one earned run. As he exited the game after the fourth inning, the USA was ahead by a score of 5-1. The Americans would go on to win the game by a score of 14-2.
Speaking to MLB Network Radio from LoanDepot Park in Miami following his team's victory, Wainwright was full of joy. He said that he "has never had so much fun" as he has been having in the World Baseball Classic.

Wainwright, 41, is a true veteran of the MLB. The Georgia native has been playing for the St. Louis Cardinals since the 2005 season, compiling several different honors and distinctions during that time.
Wainwright won the World Series with the Cards in 2006. However, he was absent from their 2011 World Series win over the Texas Rangers, as he missed the entirety of that season due to injury.
Earlier this offseason, Adam Wainwright agreed to a 1-year deal worth $17.5 million. Discounting Pittsburgh Pirates starter Rich Hill, Wainwright will be the oldest starting pitcher in the MLB this season.

A player with as much experience as Wainwright understands the significance of special occasions. In his interview with MLB Network Radio, he spoke about the presence of thousands of Cuban fans in Miami, which added to the electric atmosphere. The Miami area is home to roughly 850,000 Cuban natives.
The USA is the only team that is certain to have a berth in the World Baseball Classic on March 21.
Adam Wainwright has the chance to cap off a great career on Tuesday
Team USA will anxiously await the outcome of the Japan-Mexico semi-final to see who they will face in the March 21 final. If Wainwright and company can emerge victorious, then the veteran pitcher will have good grounds to retire on a high note following the 2023 season.
