Texas Rangers Injury Update: Adolis Garcia progressing with knee; Josh Sborz procedure successful; Corey Seager nearing full baseball activities
The Texas Rangers will look to bounce back in a major way in 2025 after a disappointing follow-up to their World Series-winning campaign. After winning the title in 2023, they struggled to get things going last season and missed the playoffs. Although the Rangers were not able to produce like they did in 2023, injuries played a big role.
Even though the offseason has only just begun, the Texas Rangers have received some positive news regarding the health of some of their injured stars. If the Rangers are going to compete again in 2025, they will need to have their lineup as close to 100% as possible and it seems that a few of their key players are on track to do so.
Here's a look at some injury updates regarding some of the Texas Rangers' ailing stars
Adolis Garcia
Adolis Garcia became a household name during the 2023 playoffs, thanks to his dominant performances that saw him record the most RBIs in a single postseason. Unfortunately for Garcia, his 2024 campaign came to an abrupt end after he suffered a sprained left patella tendon in his knee.
According to MLB insider Jeff Wilson, Adolis Garcia has started running. This is a massive update for him as it appears that he should be ready to go for the start of next season.
Corey Seager
Another Texas Rangers star whose 2024 season came to an early end was World Series MVP Corey Seager. The All-Star was forced to undergo a procedure to repair a sports hernia on his right side, but according to Wilson, is reportedly close to resuming baseball activities.
The fact that Seager is almost ready to begin ramping up activity is already a major win for him and the Texas Rangers. If the club is going to return to the postseason again in 2025, they will need their best player healthy and ready to go, which appears to be the case.
Josh Sborz
Although the news surrounding Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager's availability to start the new season was positive, the same cannot be said for reliever Josh Sborz. He underwent shoulder surgery and is expected to be sidelined to open the 2025 campaign.
There is a belief that he will pitch next season; however, it seems that he will miss at least the first two months. It remains to be seen when he will be good to go for the Texas Rangers but he should resume a big role with the club when he is cleared to return.
