During spring training, the club discovered a circulation issue in his left index finger. It was later reported that Rortvedt had to undergo surgery due to an aneurysm of the posterior artery near his left shoulder.

During his stint with the Twins, Rortvedt played 39 MLB games. He finished with a .169/.229/.281 slash line and recorded three home runs and seven RBIs over 89 at-bats.
