Today's Top MLB Pitchers Strikeouts Prop Bets: 5 picks including Logan Gilbert, Dylan Cease and more for Aug. 27, 2024
MLB starting pitchers often record a lot of strikeouts. How many they get usually depends on a few factors, and sports bettors have the opportunity to try to predict their final line. Based on an over/under line, each pitcher can record more or less, and it's the bettor's job to figure out which. To that end, we've got today's best bets from DraftKings. Yesterday, two of our picks hit.
Best MLB strikeout prop bets for Aug. 27
5) Spencer Schwellenbach: Under 6.5 -130
Spencer Schwellenbach has looked the part since joining the Atlanta Braves rotation. He has struck out 28.2 percent of the batters he's faced and 10.28 per nine innings. Today, he's up against a strong Minnesota Twins offense, so he has a less-than-enticing matchup.
4) Dylan Cease: Under 6.5 -155
Dylan Cease has been brilliant in the strikeout department. The San Diego Padres star has a 31.2 percent K rate and an 11.23 K/9. However, he is up against the St. Louis Cardinals today. It's not a great matchup, and the odds believe he's not going to pass six strikeouts.
3) Logan Gilbert: Over 7.5 -125
Logan Gilbert has a solid 25.4 percent K rate and a slightly below-average 8.80 K/9. However, the Seattle Mariners ace is going up against the Tampa Bay Rays, and their offense isn't that strong. With a good matchup, he could put in a solid outing today.
2) Justin Steele: Over 5.5 -185 (safest pick of the day)
Justin Steele is today's safest pick. The Chicago Cubs star is striking out 24.8 percent of batters faced this season and over one per inning. The Pittsburgh Pirates are on deck, though, and their offense isn't that powerful. That, plus a lower line than others, makes him today's safe pick.
1) Gerrit Cole: Over 6.5 -110 (bold prediction of the day)
Gerrit Cole is an ace, and he's been rounding into form lately. However, the New York Yankees star hasn't been as good in the strikeout department as usual, with a 25.1 percent K rate and a 9.62 K/9 rate. With a good matchup against the Washington Nationals, though, he could be a surprise.
