Tyler Glasnow injury update: All-Star pitcher expected to be ready for 2025 spring training with Dodgers

Star pitcher Tyler Glasnow is expected to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers after having been sidelined since August. According to Dodgers Nation, Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes revealed that Glasnow is projected to be ready for 2025 spring training.

Glasnow’s injury struggles began late in the 2024 regular season. On August 16, the Dodgers placed him on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his elbow. This marked his second stint on the injured list this season, ultimately causing him to miss the rest of the year.

Initially, the Dodgers were optimistic about Glasnow’s return, but they ruled him out for the season in September. So far this season, Glasnow has recorded a 3.49 ERA and a 9-6 record with the Dodgers.

In 22 starts during his first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Glasnow recorded a career-high 168 strikeouts, a 0.95 WHIP, and 35 walks over 134 innings.

Tyler Glasnow last pitched for the Dodgers on August 11 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing two earned runs, one walk, and five hits in seven innings pitched, while recording four strikeouts.

This year, Glasnow also earned his first All-Star selection.

Tyler Glasnow discusses his recovery and offseason plans to prepare for the 2025 season

Last month, Tyler Glasnow gave insights about his recovery and his plans for the offseason in an interview with Foul Territory podcast.

“I just got re-imaged recently and I haven’t thrown in a month and it looks like it’s fully healed … I’m just excited that I’ll be good to go for next year,” Glasnow said.
“It’s healed fast and it looks really good. The only thing I’ll change this offseason is I think I’ll keep my arm going. I’ll do plyos starting in November and throw twice a week probably the entire offseason.”
“As I ramp up to get back into spring in December, January, February then I’ll start getting back into a normal thing. I don’t think I’m going to take a long time off or a couple months off of throwing this year. I’m going to just keep going and try to get my tissue used to that workload.”

Tyler Glasnow joined the Los Angeles Dodgers via trade in December 2023. The two parties agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $136.5 million, with club and player options for the 2028 season.
