Veteran MLB pitcher Zack Greinke was once upset with his teammates for their unsanitary toilet habits
A hilarious incident with Zack Greinke is described in the book 'The Best Team Money Can Buy: The Los Angeles Dodgers' Wild Struggle to Build a Baseball Powerhouse' by Molly Knight.
The book is about the rise of the Los Angeles Dodgers from a team that was about to go bankrupt to a team that has won 7 World Series titles. Zack Greinke was with the team from 2013-2015 as a pitcher.
In 2013, a meeting was called by Don Mattingly, the former coach of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Greinke, who is usually quiet and stoic, stood up to announce something to the team. What he said shocked the team into silence.
The pitcher's words were:
“Some of you guys have been doing the number two and not washing your hands. It’s not good. I noticed it even happening earlier today"
He finished with:
"So if you guys could just be better about it, that would be great.”
After he uttered those words, the team was not sure if he was joking or not but when they understood he was being honest. They ended up laughing about Greinke's short speech about personal hygiene. However, we can only hope that the pitcher's teammates implement some good hygiene practices after this incident.
When Zack Greinke declared war on Chipotle over guacamole.
Known for his quirky personality, Zack Greinke once declared war on Chipotle when they increased the price of their guacamole.
Greinke is not even a fan of avocados, something that guacamole is made of. Yet he loves guacamole, especially chipotles'. The incident occurred in 2009 when the organization raised its prices. The Royals pitcher was not happy with the news.
Greinke said the following regarding his views on the organization raising its price:
"I like the guacamole. Now, I don't really love the guacamole. So I get it when I feel like it."
He added:
"They changed their guacamole from $1.50 to $1.80. I mean, $1.50 is already pretty darn high. So they changed it to $1.80, and I'll never again get guacamole."
The Kansas City Royals' pitcher continued with:
"It's not about the guacamole itself. I just don't want to let them win."
Though it seems like the organization is nowhere near changing the prices of its menu items because of Greinke. His ardent protest against the organization's inflating its prizes, even though back then he had just signed a $30 million deal with Royal, will always remain hilarious.
