Being selected to an All-Star game is not only a permanent accolade that makes up one's MLB resume, but also financially rewarding for many players. Besides this, the league also presents them with certain benefits and money.
During the three-day All-Star festivities, all players named to the All-Star game (67 players this year) receive first-class airfare and hotel reservations for themselves and their families. Meal and tip allowances are provided along with a $1,000 stipend and a surprise gift from the particular league, i.e., the American or National League.
Apart from that, players receive six complimentary tickets to the game for friends and family.
Furthermore, according to the current CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement), the top vote-getter from each league at each position receives $15,000. Excluding the outfielders, those getting the second and third most votes at each position in their respective leagues receive $5,000 and $2,500, respectively.
