When Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch unveiled dark truth of Yankees star Alex Rodriguez's on-field success
On "The Case of Alex Rodriguez," originally aired on Jan. 12, 2014, correspondent Scott Pelly interviewed Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch, who claimed to assist the former New York Yankees shortstop in his drug use.
Biogenesis of America was a Florida-based health clinic specializing in weight loss and hormone replacement therapy. The Biogenesis scandal came to light in 2013 when many MLB players were accused of using PEDs, specifically human growth hormone, from an illegal clinic.
Thirteen MLB players, including Alex Rodriguez, received lengthy suspensions. While all accepted their bans, Rodriguez appealed. In his appeal hearing, Tony Bosch gave Rodriguez's testimony and for the first time came out publicly. Here's how the conversation rolled between Scott Pelly and Anthony Bosch:
Scott Pelley: Once Alex Rodriguez was fully into your protocol, what were the various banned substances that he was taking?
Anthony Bosch: Testosterone, insulin growth factor one, human growth hormone, and some different forms of peptides.
Scott Pelley: All of them banned?
Anthony Bosch: All of them banned.
Scott Pelley: And he knew that.
Anthony Bosch: He-- yes, he-- he did.
Scott Pelley: And you knew that?
Anthony Bosch: And I knew that.
Scott Pelley: And how would that help if he took it just a few minutes before a game?
Anthony Bosch: Well, now all of a sudden, his levels of testosterone are higher. It gives him a little bit; it gives him more energy. It gives him more strength. It gives him more focus. And in combination with the growth hormone, that combination would make playing the game of baseball a lot easier.

Alex Rodriguez asked Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch to inject him with illegal substances
Appearing on "The Case of Alex Rodriguez" with Scott Pelly, Anthony Bosch also confessed that he not only provided the Yankees icon Alex Rodriguez with PEDs over several years but personally injected him.
Scott Pelley: Was Rodriguez injecting himself with these substances?
Anthony Bosch: Alex is scared of needles. So at times-- he would ask me to inject.
Scott Pelley: You've injected him?
Anthony Bosch: Yes.
Scott Pelley: Personally?
Anthony Bosch: Personally
