When Chipper Jones felt anxious about his pregnant wife going into labor during his HOF induction
In 2018, former Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones was enshrined in Cooperstown as the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum held its Induction Ceremony. It was a big day for the former third baseman but he was constantly nervous about his pregnant wife going into labor at any moment.
Jones' third wife, Taylor Higgins, was expecting their second son, Cooper, back then. The due date was the day after the ceremony. As a husband, Jones prioritized his wife's well-being over his HOF induction speech.
“I was more nervous about the baby, and more nervous about Taylor than my speech. I’d rather face Randy Johnson in the ninth inning of the seventh game of the World Series," said Chipper narrating his feelings from the big day.
Interestingly, Chipper also went on to pre-record his HOF induction speech in case his wife had to be rushed to the hospital. Taylor gave birth to Cooper 10 days later on August 9, 2018.
"Oh my world. Chipper and I welcomed another precious boy into our family yesterday and he is just perfect!" -Taylor Higgins
