When former MLB star David Justice's divorce from his ex-wife Halle Berry pushed her to the point of suicidal thoughts
In March 2007, Halle Berry opened up about how her divorce from former Atlanta Braves star David Justice drove the Hollywood actress to the brink of suicide.
In February 1992, Halle and David Justice met each other during an MTV game. The following year, on January 1, 1993, the duo exchanged vows. Unfortunately, David and Halle separated in February 1996 and divorced formally on June 24, 1997.
In a 2003 interview with Parade magazine, an American national Sunday newspaper magazine, Berry admitted that she contemplated suicide ever since her first divorce (1997) and subsequent second divorce (2005) from Eric Benét.
“I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming when I had an image of my mother finding me,” Berry narrated about the suicide attempt. “She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do.
She added:
“My sense of worth was so low. I had to reprogram myself to see the good in me. Because someone didn’t love me didn’t mean I was unlovable. I promised myself I would never be a coward again."
Four years after her split from David, Halle Berry tied the knot with singer-songwriter Eric Benet on January 24, 2001. However, the pair split in 2003, and their divorce was finalized on January 3, 2005.
Eric Benet, Halle Berry's ex-husband, offered David Justice his support
In November 2015, former MLB star David Justice lashed out at Halle Berry on Twitter in the wake of her third divorce from French actor Olivier Martinez.
Between her second and third marriages, Halle was in a relationship with French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry. The couple also shares a daughter.
"Yup...Me, Eric (Benet), Gabriel (Aubry), and Olivier were all her "Knight in Shining Armor’, until it ends. Then we all become the worst guys in history," wrote David on Twitter.
He added:
"Only the guys in the relationship with Halle know the real deal there will be another, of course. He’ll be called ‘The Best’ until it ends."
In an interesting turn of events, singer-songwriter Eric Benet took notice of the former Atlanta Braves right-fielder's viral tweets. Next, Eric joined the Twitter rant and expressed his grievances, writing,
"My man David Justice is tweeting some truth dis' morning!"
Quite a drama, indeed!
Currently, former Braves icon Justice David has been married to Rebecca Villalobos since February 2001. They have three children together - David Jr., Dionisio, and Raquel.
