When anonymous former teammate exposed Chicago White Sox star Frank Thomas' poor treatment of clubhouse guys

In 2022, former Chicago White Sox star and Hall of Famer Frank Thomas was called out by an anonymous former teammate for treating clubhouse guys poorly.

The controversy came to light when Jon Greenburg, a columnist for The Athletic, tweeted a picture of Jeff Pearlman’s book, "The Last Folk Hero: The Life and Myth of Bo Jackson, which contained an inflammatory phrase about Thomas.

The book, which was released last year, is a definitive biography of Thomas' former White Sox teammate, Jackson.

"Frank (Thomas) was a douchebag,” the anonymous player was quoted as saying. “I judge people by how they treat those they don’t need to be nice to. Frank treated the clubhouse guys like garbage.”

Thomas made his MLB debut with the White Sox in 1990 and played for them until 2005. He then went on to have stints with the Oakland Athletics (2006) and the Toronto Blue Jays (2007–08). In his last season in the MLB, he returned to the Oakland Athletics (2008) for a second stint.

Chicago White Sox icon Bo Jackson wasn't happy with the release of Jeff Pearlman’s book, "The Last Folk Hero: The Life and Myth of Bo Jackson." Apparently, the book wasn't authorized by Jackson, who took to Twitter to express his views.

"If someone releases an “unauthorized biography,” it means they are using someone else to profit for themselves. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a true representation. If you want to hear the real story, then wait for me to release it," wrote Bo on Twitter.

He also said he wouldn't sign any unlicensed biographies.
