In July 2008, former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez's marriage to ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis collapsed over alleged infidelity. Scurtis filed for divorce on July 7, 2008, citing emotional abandonment of her and their children, as well as extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct.

Alex and Cynthia's love story started when they met at a gym in Miami, Florida. After dating for a while, the pair tied the knot in 2002. Two years later, their first daughter, Natasha, was born on November 18, 2004. Four years later, on April 21, 2008, Cynthia gave birth to their second child, Ella.

Unfortunately, just two months after their youngest daughter was born, Cynthia headed for divorce. Later, A-Rod finally spoke up and mentioned in court filings that his marriage to Cynthia was "irretrievably broken."
